I had no idea whether or not great photos could be made on this day. I knew I needed to get the hell out of the house, and it's been a long-standing habit to never leave the house without a camera.
While 'great' may not be your word for describing these shots, I was excited to see the way the sky and water were tinged with this strange blue. Gothic blue maybe?
At the time I was excited by the composition and these shots still give me some satisfaction. Lake Pleasant turned out to be full of surprises.

Growing up in Southern California, I am constantly mystified at how small my world was back then. As an adult I am trying to take in all the spots I missed. Here is a taste of the sea arch at Little Corona Del Mar. A small beach with a network of protected tidepools and some interesting rock formations, LCDM is like a mini-version of Crystal Cove; but it has just as strong an effect on you. I'm sure I will be creating more photos in this place in the near future.
San Onofre State Beach. While everyone I knew was taking surf trips down here in high school, I was oblivious. It wasn't until later in life that I learned to appreciate being in the waves. This place must be experienced to understand it.
